Key to Successful Professional Life

Often we wonder about a good pay believing a good pay yields a good life. 

If put bluntly, we desperately long for a better pay.

While it is no wonder that money can solve a lot of problems in day-to-day live, there are still many things that calls for background check.

For instance, if you give a beggar a grand, he'll most likely end up being a beggar after few months, point here is he/she doesn't has the mind-set.

Most common mistake we all do when we start our career is we embed this information deep in our brain that your brain starts working for money.

Probably you all must have heard it from people around you; and probably rejected the idea (What chances do I have with the same thought! - I wonder).

Funny thing is, believe it or not at some point of time you'll realize.

It is better to live a life of 'Oh! Well...' than 'What If!!'.

Do what you love to do; do it with passion; and the money will follow

Pretty simple; yet there are circumstances which sometimes forces to turn the way around, some of us have huge responsibilities at early age; but the thing is it is never too late. Just because you're getting to reach a destination by walk doesn't means you should not pick up a vehicle. It may get difficult because of costs which may incur during travel by vehicle, but you can not just trade money with life. The idea is get as soon as possible to your vehicle of choice.

These days though, finding a vehicle itself is a big problem for fresh-men. Here in India, before a student would think something about his/her future, parents, relatives, neighbors and god knows how many unknown faces would come and give plethora of career options; this clouds thinking ability of the student and eventually falls to an abyss. Next step is they loose control of their life & decisions, and for the rest of their lives they end up living on someone else's terms.

Personally I've been very lucky to enjoy such a great extent of freedom over choices from my parents. Anyways, coming back to the topic; above introductory content should have given you enough content to re-think about your life; importantly is it your choice for doing what you're doing!?

On professional grounds, life is different. Very different from what you see in schools & colleges. You simply won't get away with anything just because you're good at academics, or you're good at making friends etc. You will have to be everything at once. Most important of all everything comes down to who you are.

Let us begin discussing the steps to be professionally successful:

TRUE WORTH

Just because you're good at -xyz- thing doesn't makes you valuable. If your knowledge is not bringing value & business to your organization, it is useless. Also, make sure you're aware that your payment is not related to your education.

Your true worth is defined as:

How much more you give in value than you take in payment

When there are two strangers and if they wish to talk someone has to break the ice. In corporate it will most likely has to be you who breaks the ice. Once you let people around you about the value you can contribute to the team; the money will follow. Of course you don't have to expect any monetary returns for your contributions, just be open for the gifts.

YOUR INCOME

This will be bit tricky in corporate; as everyone wants bang for the buck. If given a choice no one will spend a nickel and hope the work to be done. Well this is not how it goes, at least not for long. It is important that you understand this fact and plan accordingly. Be where there is win-win fit or else you'll end up cursing the organization for ever.

Your income more or less will be depending on:

How many people you serve and How well do you serve them

While there are thankless people in corporate; even they would long for moral values in people. Simply put, you can throw money and talent will be there doing performances for you; but such things as moral values, loyalty & respect; it can not be bought. These values play very important role in your professional success.

RECOGNITION

Again, respect can not be bought; you can't just hope people will acknowledge you just like that. It needs patience, perseverance and hard-work.

Your influence is determined by how abundantly you place other people's interests first

Normally when you do not think in monetary terms, you'll always feel better when you help someone. When we start doing the same thing in corporate, good deeds comes to us in many ways; say referrals, extended family! who knows! 

INVALUABLE GIFT

Believe it or not, this is what people really want from you whether they are aware or not!

The most valuable gift you have to offer is yourself

and it is not just about giving, you should be able to receive too. And it shouldn't be an ego issue in being at receiving end.

The key to effective giving is to stay open to receiving
