Inner Peace

Better said than done!

Well most of you would have got similar thoughts after reading the title, well I did and which is why I can shout about it :P
You are said to have attained inner peace when no external stimulus can affect your state of mind
It is important to note that inner peace doesn't means lack of ability to show emotions
More or less we often misunderstand inner peace. Most people relate inner peace as invulnerability to negative emotions.
This is so wrong! which is why this post will help you understand what inner peace truly is and how can you move towards attaining it.

Hi Folks,

Do you recall our friends Fear, Anger, Joy, Disgust and Sadness ?
As we have talked in an earlier post 'Inside Out', how these guys define us and also we arrived at a common consensus that we should guide our little friends for harmony.

In this post, we'll talk about how you should guide our little friends so that you move towards attaining inner peace.

This post briefs out following points:
Be aware of your surrounding
Be genuine
Filter your thoughts
Think before you act

Be aware of your surrounding
Mind is distracted when you are not acquainted to the surrounding. If I put simply, when you're lying on your bed or couch, you never care how you look or what anyone would think of you. But when in open public, you are mindful of your actions. You must observe some people are confident around bunch of people some are not; the only difference between them is one who is mindful of surrounding and gets acquainted to it is thus is no longer bothered about impact of surrounding on his/her physical presentation which results in concentration towards the content AND NOT the context.

Make yourself comfortable physically, be mindful of the surrounding. 
If something ticks you off; you can always suggest a place where you feel good vibes and feel comfortable. And trust me this goes in general sense, a comforting surrounding to one will be comforting for most.


Be genuine
Complications occur when you pretend to be someone you are not. This problem is faced majorly by middle-class people because they are too proud to consider anything that is sub-standard; and can not afford [logically nor financially : what's the point of buying a lamborghini by selling eveverything including under-wear]. This rat race actually is contagious, one can not just remain untouched after hearing someone boasting.

Accept who you are, without feeling as an outcast. There is a difference in being poor and broke. Poor is a mind-set whereas Broke is a condition. A poor can never lift unless changes mind-set but a broke can rise to riches as long as work towards a better future is in effect. 

If people genuinely cherish your presence, they'll lovingly accept your genuine self; if not they are not the people you should hang-out with.


Filter your thoughts
We communicate through words, expressions or signs. There is communication and right way of communication. At this point in life, you can not just declare yourself to be having some zodiac sign which gives you waiver to behave in derogatory manner. If you still believe that somehow position of planets at the time of your birth can affect your personality, trust me your life is full of illusions and lies. 

FACT: It takes about 230 million years for our solar system to orbit Milky-Way; so there has and will never be an instance where you were at same point in space and time.

No one ever tells us to respond within a fraction of second; it is us who assume such. Take your time, filter your thoughts but be genuine. 
Say what you wish to communicate, just find a better way of doing so (if possible).


Think before you act
It should make logical sense when we say, turn off lights/fans when not in use; or turn off engines when count-down exceeds more than 10 seconds in traffic.
We say so to conserve energy. While we tend to conserve external energy, we almost every time ignore our internal energy. The average minimum energy requirement per person per day is about 7,500 kJ with having a work efficiency around 25%; why would you entertain wasting any more energy. Just to give you a perspective, it takes around 720 kJ for an electric car to drive 1 km; which would translate to a travel of 10.5 km.

Knowing 'Whether to speak!' and 'When to speak?' is a bliss because you need to make sure if your voice counts; if you've observed a few times that it falls on deaf ears, then there is no point in wasting your energy.

...and this is how you move towards attaining inner-peace.
It is not about barring your emotions, it is guiding your emotions so that you convey your message without disturbing your state of mind
A dear friend of mine used to guide me when we were in school. She would say:
Have you given your remote to others, that whenever someone feels like they change channels!
That would be all!
