Concept of Religion

Hi Folks,

There are times when all I do is think and research; like past few weekends I got to meet wonderful people and gathered a lot of knowledge.
Today I'll be talking about how religion started in the very beginning and what it is today.

When the first men walked on earth, there was only one religion. History knows it as 'Sanatana Dharma'. Don't be mistaken, the definition has changed over the period of time.
I'll present logical evidences and then leave it up to you readers to think and ponder on it.

The first men worshipped the elemental gods.
1. The Sun
2. Water
3. Air
4. Earth
5. Food

And as you may have guessed there is no explanation needed as to why people worshipped the elemental gods.

Later in the course of time, someone would get an idea that the world is so big that means there must be someone who manages. There must be a god of creation, destruction and the one who nurtures; and that is how 3 new gods came to existence.

Things were going good, then some King wondered how can I reign forever, there has to be some sort of rule so that I can pass on the throne to my lineage. From there, a new concept emerged; gods had sons who were also deemed to be gods. And likewise, son of king will be king.

Next course of action was, some person claimed to be saint, he scripted his beliefs and formed a small cult which would later turn out to be a new religion over the period of time.
...and this continued and continues so, even today!
Irony is we forgot elemental gods and fight over gods that were created
Today world leaders claim that there is no such thing as global-warming or climate-change. Believe it or not, no matter which religion you are from today.
If we do not respect the elemental gods, we are bound to perish sooner or later
There is an interesting folk-tale I'd like to share.

The story goes as...

There was a poor guy, had nothing to eat; wandered around villages seeking some work. Once outside a village he saw a 'mazar' [shrine]. He took shelter there for a short while and started reciting his difficulties and begged for mercy to the shrine.

Upon noticing, 'maulana' [priest] came out and consoled him. Maulana heard him and felt sorry for him. He gifted the poor guy a donkey he had and prayed for his well being. After receiving donkey, the poor guy started out as a washerman and his business grew; soon he became rich. After few years, his donkey fell ill and succumbed to it.

Washerman bid donkey goodbye with rituals and constructed a shrine for him as he pulled him out of his misery back in the days. Slowly his business started falling, one day he sat on his donkey's shrine and was grieving over the loss.

A very popular landlord of the village was passing by and came to the shrine, he prayed and told washerman that it is a very important case he is going to and if he wins he'll expand the shrine and will help create a bigger one.
Incidentally, landlord won the case and the shrine was re-constructed to be a bigger one. Slowly it became popular by the narrative 'whoever goes there get the wish granted, the landlord got his wish granted too'.

The washerman became priest of the shrine. He would earn lots of money that came from donations. One day the 'maulana' was passing by; washerman saw him and immediately fell to his feet and thanked him for giving him the donkey. Washerman told how the donkey make him rich when alive; and even after death; to which maulana replied 'the shrine you visited years back was of this donkey's mother'.

And that is how a small belief/rumor can give birth to a massive cult which people blindly follow. There is one person at the top pulling strings; giving illusion of better future in live and after death and people without reasoning, like cattle follow them. In reality they are just making sure there sit on the top and hold money and power; by using other people for their own advantage.

Religion is made for people and NOT vice-versa. Be kind, be helpful to people around you and absolutely reject any hate-speches given by self-proclaimed demi-gods.

With this, I'll take my leave.
Request you guys to give this a thought.

See you soon!
